We’ve all heard of the rope Trick” for getting a stubborn head off the block by feeding rope into a sparkplug hole. Here’s a rope trick that I wish I had thought of years ago. If you have an oil filter that just doesn’t want to loosen, wrap it with a rope (or an electrical cord etc) as shown, hold one end while pulling on the other. The harder you pull, the tighter it will grab and twist the filter! What’s really great is that it works in small places where fancy wrenches might not fit or have enough swing space. And in this case. you can do it from above, comfortably standing beside the engine bay.
